Agora pre-event in Udine

27 October-1 November 2006

Since an Agora is a lot of discussing and attending workshops, I (Sien) decided to take some real 'relaxing' holiday before. So 1 week before, I already headed off for Italy. Toghether with Chiara, an Italian friend of mine, I explored Padova (the city with the largest square in Europe or something? at least, I have to admit, it is very big) and after that we took the train together to the pre-event in Udine.
There we found a mix of Polish, Russian, Serbian, German and off course Italian people. We went to windy Triëste, lovely Venice and to Gorizia & Nova Gorizia: a city literaly ON the border of Italy and Slovenia, where there 's a passport control in the middle of town, but also a mutual square from the two countries. We went winetasting, to a workshop from an artist who makes flowers out of plastic bottels and to a Halloween party. Let the pictures speek for themselves...

Fall Agora Napoli

2-5 November 2006

Napoli, Italy, 1741 kilometres away from Gent. What the hell where we doing there?
The Fall Agora in Napoli will always be remembered by AEGEE-Gent, since that event we officially could use our name for the first time! In a way, AEGEE-Gent is born at the foot of Vesuvius, almost like a Greek myth ;-). On the 5th of November, the last day of the Agora, Wouter, Stefaan and Sien signed the Convention d’Adhesion. The document that makes a bunch of people an antenna, a part of the big network. Jeej!

Of course a lot more happened at the Agora, since this is the General Assembly of the whole AEGEE-Network. New CD-members were chosen, past work approved, projects presented, events promoted, challenges discussed, cultures physically and mentally tested ;-) (generally speaking), with a looooooong party between the days…

In between even at an Agora you can squeeze in some time to go into the city. Altough there were like a thousand warnings about robbery and there was some mafia-raid going on right before the Agora, it looked like a peaceful city to us. Impressive buildings, looooooooooong boulevards (where the fuck is that train station?) and an unforgettable view at the sea, with Vesuvius somewhere in the middle of the picture. We had Belgian weather tough, so not so much ‘enjoyment’ of the beach…

Next Agora will be in Valletta... In Spring... Already looking forward to that!

Network Meeting in Köln

20-22 October 2006

A Network Meeting, the perfect opportunity to meet people from (relatively) closeby locals, find out what new projects AEGEE is doing, discuss about what YOU think about all this and only being away for a weekend. Some of the topics: AEGEE-Köln’s 20th Aniversary Celebration, Caucasus Case Study Trip, Voulez-vous ECI avec moi? and OF COURSE European Night!
